How fast can an electric scooter go? That is a question that is asked a lot. Since May 31, 2019, the maximum speed for electric scooters in the Netherlands has been increased to 25 km/h. To be able to ride it, you must have a valid driver’s license, which can be a car or moped license. Furthermore, you need to be insured and in possession of a license plate.
When the electric scooter is designated as a special moped by the minister, the rules are slightly different. Then you no longer need to have a driver’s license or license plate, but you still need to be insured. You must also be at least 16 years old and you must follow the rules of a moped.
